I was born in Switzerland (1968), and grown up in Ankara, Turkey. I live and work today in Switzerland. I am married, and have a daughter.
I studied first electrical engineering (METU and ETH), then economy and finance (University of Zürich and CFA). Quantitative modeling and problem solving has always been my strong side. Thanks to my diverse interests in nature, music, philosophy, literature and aquarium keeping I could extend my professional skills with a broader holistic thinking which sometimes help me in finding innovative solutions. In my opinion, a superior solution should …
- solve the problem at hand completely; i.e. no half-way solutions with tedious side effects.
- reduce the complexity, enable a better overview and scalability.
- stimulate independent and innovative minds for further developments.

I decided not to use the CFA title anymore (Chartered Financial Analyst). I already informed the Swiss CFA Society that I resigned from the community.
Reason: Irresponsible attitude of the CFA institute and its community for social and environmental concerns in global investment practices, apparently with a deliberate “don’t know – don’t question – don’t care” policy.
I left the CFA society because I do care about traditional local economies and environment. I will explain my reasons in more detail in a future personal blog.
